Biography: Angela Amphawan is an Associate Professor of optical technology and business intelligence at Othman Yeop Abdullah Graduate School of Business, Universiti Utara Malaysia and Head of the university’s Optical Technology Research Laboratory. She is also a Fulbright Research Fellow at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, USA. She is passionate about harnessing emerging optical technologies in business decision making and business intelligence. Her research has been funded by the Fulbright Foundation, Telekom Malaysia, German Academic Exchange and the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education. She has been invited as a keynote speaker, co-chair, advisory board member and technical program committee member for several leading conferences. She regularly shares her expertise and collaborates, as a Fulbrighter, with various organizations, including the IEEE Photonics Society, Malaysian Communications & Multimedia Commission Seminar (MCMC), Nanyang Technological University and University of Oxford. In addition, she serves as an Editor for several journals as well as a reviewer for leading optical journals such as Optics Express, Optics Letters, Journal of Lightwave Technology and IEEE Photonics Journal. She is also actively involved in the IEEE Sensor and Nanotechnology Joint Councils of Malaysia as an International Networking Executive. She has won four Best Paper Awards and several exhibition medals. She also served on the University Think Tank Committee in 2014. Her excellent academic contributions have recently earned her the International Academic Award, presented by the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia.
