Biography: Nurwati Ashikkin is Associate Professor of Accounting and Finance. She has successfully supervised six PhD students and more than 13 master’s students and is currently supervising three PhD and two DBA candidates in the area of accounting and finance. She has been appointed as PhD and master’s thesis examiner on a regular basis by Universiti Malaya (UM) and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).  To date, she has completed more than 12 research projects. She has published in leading accounting and finance journals including the Journal of Business Finance and Accounting, International Journal of Accounting, and Review of Accounting and Finance. She has also published articles in regional accounting and finance journals such as the Asian Review of Accounting, International Journal Economics and Management, and Asian Academy of Management Journal of Accounting and Finance. Her articles have also appeared in professional journals such as Accountants Today, Banker's Journal and MAREF review. Currently, she is the Managing Editor of the International Postgraduate Business Journal (IPBJ) and an editorial board member for the UPI PTK Journal of Business and Economics and Journal of Business Management and Accounting. She is also an ad-hoc reviewer for the British Accounting Review, Emerging Market Finance and Trade, Managerial Auditing Journal, Managerial Finance, International Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Performance Evaluation, Asian Academy of Management Journal of Accounting and Finance, Gender in Management, and Journal of Asia Business Studies.  She has received several research and publication awards locally and internationally including Best Publication in Journal (ISI/SCOPUS/ERA) Award (2012); University Publication Incentive Award (2012-2017); Emerald Literati Network Outstanding Paper Award 2011; Malaysian Outstanding Research Paper in Accounting Award (MORPA 2009) as the First Prize Winner of Financial Accounting and Reporting Category; and Best Paper Award (2015-2016) in Research Conference. She received the Excellence Service Award in 2002 and 2010 for her exemplary service with UUM.
