He came to academe after a career in industry, having worked in multinational corporations based in Europe and the US. He received his PhD in communication management from the Universiti Utara Malaysia / University of Queensland Business School. His research is in leadership, organizational communication, ethics, and cross-cultural communication in organizations. His research has been published in leading management journals including Cross-Cultural and Strategic Management and Leadership & Organizational Development. He is also a Visiting Professor at the ICN Business School, Nancy, France and Associate Research Fellow at Purdue Policy Research Institute, Purdue University. Hassan also serves as the Chairman for Malaysia Top Business School Task Force and Malaysia Business School Dean Council at the Malaysia Ministry of Higher Education. Hassan has served as the Deputy Dean of Research, Innovation, and Knowledge Transfer as well as the Director of the Institute for Leadership, Innovation, and Change at OYAGSB. In addition to his leadership and administration experiences, he has experience planning international and regional conferences.
