UUM ONLINE: As one of the renowned providers of Executive Education in Malaysia, Othman Yeop Abdullah Graduate School of Business (OYAGSB) Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) offers a wide variety and in demand training programmes to meet the needs of the local and international industries.

In this regard, OYAGSB UUM, in collaboration with Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, United States of America initiated a joint Executive Development Training Programme. This is the first concerted training programme between Kellogg School of Management and a university in Malaysia.

The launching ceremony of UUM-Kellogg Executive Development Training Programme was officiated by Yang Berhormat Dato’ Seri Idris Jusoh, the Minister of Education II, at EDC-UUM Hotel.

Yesterday morning, Dato’ Seri Idris Jusoh arrived at 9:00 am for a working visit to UUM. He was given a rousing reception by UUM denizens, led by Dato’ Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Wira Dr.Mohamed Mustafa Ishak.

In his welcoming remark, Dato’ Vice-Chancellor said that OYAGSB UUM has been steadfastly and steadily working towards achieving the goal of becoming the Top 100 Business School by the year 2020. OYAGSB is on the right track to gain international recognition by engaging three main strategies known as “3R”, which stands for "Relevant, Responsive and Responsible". The emphases are placed on the three strategies; (1) Relevant Study Programmes, (2) Research projects that are tailored and responsive to the needs of the industries and (3) Responsibility to the stakeholders.

Dato’ Vice-Chancellor also expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to Dato’ Seri Idris Jusoh for taking time off his busy schedule to visit UUM.

Kellogg is currently ranked at the 5th position in Bloomberg Business Week; the 6th in US News Top 100 Business School and the 14th in the Economist Business School.

UUM-Kellogg Executive Training Development Programme is divided into two modules. Module 1, commencing 13 to 16 November 2014 is offered at UUM and Module 2, commencing 23 to 28 November 2014 will be conducted at Kellogg School of Management, Chicago, United States of America.

Both modules will be taught by renowned Professors and Adjunct Professors of OYAGSB UUM and Kellogg School of Management. The participants of this programme comprised of senior leaders and officers from government agencies and private sector.

This executive programme also attracts considerable attention from the officers at the Prime Minister’s Department, Ministry of International Trade and Industry, the Social Security Organisation (PERKESO) and the Ministry of Education, Malaysia.

Participants of the Executive Programme will be awarded certificates of participation by OYAGSB and Kellogg School of Management at the end of the programme.

A special briefing session regarding the management of the university was conducted by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic & International Affairs), Prof. Dr. Hasan Ali specifically for Dato’ Seri Idris Jusoh.

Also present at the event were the member of the Kedah State Executive Council and the Education, Transportation and Works Committee Chairman, Dato' Tajul Urus Mat Zain; Bukit Kayu Hitam Assemblyman, Dato' Ahmad Zaini Japar; Director-General of Higher Education Department, Ministry of Education Malaysia, Dato' Prof. Dr Asma Ismail, Chairman of the University Board of Directors (LPU), Tan Sri Samsudin Osman, members of the University Management Committee and senior university officers.
